Recuva can recover accidentally deleted files

Description: Have you ever accidentally deleted files from the Recycle Bin, or just wanted to retreive them later? It is possible! When you deleted a file from the Recycle Bin, the parts on the HardDisk that the file previously occupied will be classified as “writable” by Windows, so next time something is written into the hard disk, it will occupy the “writable” place.

So, as it is still retreivable, but you need a program to help you. Recuva (pronounced “recover”) can do the job for you, as long as hundreds of other similar utilities, but what makes Recuva different from others is that it has a wizard, so that it is easy to use to first users, amateurs, but still provides enough flexibility for professionals. The following is more notes on this program:

• It can recover all deleted files from the computer, even those that were directly deleted (not via the Recycle Bin).
• In the wizard, you can set the program to only scan specific files, for example images, documents, videos or specific extensions or search criteria.
• You can recover files from a Memory Card, SD, USB stick, portable drives and built-in hard disks.
• After scanning, you can choose which files to be recovered.
• You can multi-select files to recover at one click.
• Resource use while scanning is about 60 megs, which is not very much for this type of program.
• Advanced view and normal view available, with advanced view containing information about headers, file creation time and a preview for image files. There is a list view that shows information about the probability of success, file size, etc. information. (see two screenshots on the right)
• You can choose where the recovered files are saved to. Note that recovering to another drive increases the chance of success. The program reminds you of this.

Verdict: This is a program that makes recovering of files easy. It is much better than others of it’s kind, like TestDisk, and is a good program for both novices and professionals.
