SMOz allows you to easily manage your Start Menu
Version Tested: 0.7.0.1
Description: Ever since you started to use your PC, you must have been installing more and more programs. Most installers will create a link/folder in the Start Menu for installed pr0grams, which is actually an excellent idea in the first place. However, installing more and more software might make your Start Menu crowded with broken links and a list that takes a few minutes to scroll through!?
Of course there is a solution to this problem. SMOz (stands for Start Menu Organizer) is a program that helps you find defect/broken links in the Start Menu, and also provides a straightforward interface for you to mange your Start Menu by adding categories, grouping shortcuts into categories, adding folders, copy and paste, renaming, etc.
Some people might say, I can do it at the default Windows Start Menu location (which is in rootdirectory:\documents and settings\[user name] or “all users”\Start Menu)! Yes you can, but shortcuts in that location are grouped according to user names, with some in the All Users group. It will take a lot of manual moving to organize in the directory. So here SMOz can lend you a helping hand. More notes on the program below:
- Easy to use, intuitative interface.
- Can scan for broken shortcuts and delete them by clicking “Tools” –> “Cleanup”.
- Word 2003 menu interface note.
- Allows you to create templates which you can use later.
- In the Preferences dialog, you can add more folders for SMOz to monitor, for example your Program Files folder.
Verdict: A definite thumbs up for those who do not know how to mess with their system components, a large helping hand for those who are too lazy but are professional. I give my full endorsement to this program with so many functions.
