Polyglot helps you identify an unknown language
Version Tested: 3.36
Description: Let’s just say that, one day you were surfing the net when you found an article that was of interest to you. The only problem is, the article was in an unknown foreign language. You can use the Google service or the Google Toolbar to do a on-the-fly somewhat rudimentary translation, but another problem surfaces: You don’t know which language the article is in.
In these kinds of cases, Polyglot 3000 can help. It uses a language database to identify which language the article is in by just copy and pasting some phrases of the article. Here are more notes about this program:
- Multilingual interface (normal since it’s a program regarding translation)
- Lightning fast language recognition.
- Can display Unicode and ANSI encoded fonts.
- Polyglot can be set to only recognize the top 100 most popular languages of it’s full 450+ language list. The full list of supported language can be found [click here].
Verdict: Polyglot has the widest range of supported languages of any language recognition software known, and it’s free, so it’s definitely recommended if you regularly visit foreign websites, or for just a single need. I tested it on Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Korean.
Compatibility: All versions of Windows.
